A resource hub for Black and Brown pre-law students on their path to success in the legal field.
As of 2024, Black or African American students comprised 7.7% of first-year law students in the United States—a figure that remains below their 13.6% share of the U.S. population. While students of color collectively represented a record 40% of the incoming law school class, Black students continue to be significantly underrepresented. Nationally, Black lawyers account for only 5% of the legal profession.
At Black JD, we are committed to changing these statistics by providing critical resources, mentorship, and community support to empower the next generation of Black and Brown legal professionals.
